from "The Bartered Bride" for expanable flute choir
Tanz der Komödianten aus "Der verkaufte Braut"
|Umfang||15 Seiten (Partitur); 21 × 28 cm|
This arrangement is extremely versatile in any flute choir situation, as it is written in the expandable form. With the use of the first four parts, two piccolos and two C flutes, this composition will work successfully. As the other instruments become available, they are used to expand the harmonic structure and introduce new counter-melodies. The optional bass and drum parts will enhance the dimension of the arrangement.
Dance of the Comedians, from "The Bartered Bride" by Friedrich Smetana, is a very lively and spirited piece of music. Although the tempo is marked vivace with a metronome marking of 144, this could be played faster only to be limited by the technical ability of the musicians. Perfecting the arrangement will require evenly played sixteenth notes in many of the parts while maintaining a strict steady tempo throughout. Due to the fast tempo marking, the parts may become technically difficult. Even though the composition has many notes, it maintains a beautiful, lyrical melody.
Hopefully, bance of the Comedians'will be exciting for you to play and perform. It has been one of my favorite works for years. Enjoy the challenge!
