Frost Rhapsody

Frost Rhapsody, written for the Wind Band of Andalo (Trento), describes all the magical atmospheres of the mountain landscape. Following an engaging introduction, the first part of the composition leads us to discover mountain trails, which are always rough and steep. After the first exposition of the theme, there is a dark section that describes the challenges of hiking. The reprise of the opening theme in all of its majesty represents the satisfaction of the view from the top of the mountain, satisfaction that repays all efforts made to reach the goal. The second section sees the arrival of "Frost," which is the legendary representation of frostiness, portrayed by a sweet flute solo and whistling effects that take us into a new atmosphere. And here is the snowy mountain ... a delicate section that, with subtle and fluid themes, describes at first the snow gently settling on the ground and then the majesty of the mountain completely covered in snow. The last part of the piece describes all the games and sports that take place on the snow: the snowmen come to life and transport us, with shifting rhythms and harmonies, toward an enthralling final.
